Deborah K. Ropelewski
CPCU, AU, ARe, ARM, CPIW
Ms. Ropelewski received her B.S. in Business from Virginia Tech. She went on to earn the following insurance designations from The Institutes: Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Associate in Underwriting (AU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe). She was also awarded the Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW) designation by the National Association of Insurance Women (now the International Association of Insurance Professionals).
A veteran of the Property & Casualty insurance industry, Ms. Ropelewski has been involved in the Professional Liability industry for almost forty years. She served as a senior underwriter for two national Medical Professional Liability carriers, working with physicians, healthcare facilities, and allied healthcare professionals, before joining the brokerage ranks. She served as a reinsurance intermediary for Willis’ (now WillisTowersWatson) healthcare reinsurance team for almost ten years. Ms. Ropelewski then served as part of Arthur J. Gallagher’s healthcare group until joining the Professional Liability Underwriting Society’s (PLUS) staff as Director of Education in late 2006.
She was integrally involved with the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) Designation Program beginning in 1993, as a PLUS member and volunteer leader, prior to joining the PLUS staff. Deb helped found and served as Co-Chair for the PLUS Medical Professional Liability Symposium in years 2001-2003, and was elected to the PLUS Board of Trustees in November 2003. She resigned from the Board of Trustees to join staff as the Director of Education in September, 2006. Deb was awarded the PLUS Founder’s Award in recognition of her lasting and outstanding contributions to PLUS. Ms. Ropelewski previously served on the Insurance Liaison Committee for the Tommy T. Martin Chair of Insurance at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), and has also served on their Advisory Board. She has been a member of and served in various capacities for the Middle Tennessee CPCU chapter, and also served as President, and remains involved in the Nashville Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. Deb was a part of the group that founded the Nashville Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association in 1995.
